How to add extra tracking such as SUBPUID or PARTNER PARAMETER?

« Go Back

The Viator Partner Program offers the ability to pass 2 URL-based parameters for marketing purposes: “SUBPUID” and “PARTNER” which essentially do the same thing, just with a different name.

If you add them to your Viator white label links, both parameters will show on booking reports and commission remittance reports

You can use this function to track bookings from specific links, pages, site sections or "sub" websites pointing to your Viator Partner site.

If you have multiple websites, we encourage you to use this function to track bookings by funneling all traffic to a single generic Viator Partner site. This allows you to earn commissions faster through one Viator site, instead of operating multiple Viator sites as you have to reach a $50 commission threshold before we can pay you.

To track bookings using the SUBPUID or PARTNER function, the following elements or parameters needs to be added to each URL you use to link to your Viator whitelabel: SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM.

There is no set-up or admin setting for this function, it's always available for your use. You can use up to 12 alphanumeric characters as a SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM (eg 123, ABS394900, 29292929, etc.) - Use any SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM you would like, these are not Viator generated.

We do not validate or restrict any SUBPUID data or PARTNERPARAM, the function will merely pass what you enter into it.

Steps to track sales by use of the SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM function:

1. Your Partner site's URL:

2. Add the SUBPUID parameter
'?SUBPUID=<parameter>' to each and every URL link you want to track as a sub-account or if you are using the PARTNER PARAMETER, then do the same with ‘?PARTNERPARAM=<parameter>’.

You can use both parameters at the same time, and it does not matter in which order they appear. You can use SUBPUID for instance to distinguish between multiple websites or domains that you use to send traffic to your Viator white label; and then use the partner parameter to distinguish between different marketing channels – the choice is yours, but with two parameters you can set up detailed reporting!

3. You can also add the SUBPUID or PARTNER PARAMETER to deeper Viator pages if you link to those directly.

Note: Only one "?" is allowed per URL.  If you already have a “?”in the URL use the "&" instead and then the SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM.  That means that if you plan on using both the SUBPUID and PARTNERPARAM you will have to use at least one “&”

4. The SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM will still be captured by the Viator system once the customer navigates away from the page they first use land on on your whitelabel. Though the SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM is not displayed anymore on the URLs of any following pages that customers click through to don’t be alarmed if you don’t see your parameters anymore the Viator system still records and track them in the background.

5. The online booking report and commission remittance report will reflect the SUBPUID and PARTNERPARAM parameter by each booking (if added correctly to the URL).

IMPORTANT Information:
The system will only capture a maximum of 12 alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers only, NO spaces, special characters or punctuation) used for the SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM value.
If there is no SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM value, or the URL parameter is mistyped, then the booking will not be referenced with a SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM. It is vital you construct your URL correctly.

What happens if I do not add the SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM parameter and its value, or it's mistyped?
The URL may still function, but the reporting will not capture the SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM. Any bookings made will be referenced to your account ID (partner unique identifier or PUID) but without a SUBPUID or PARTNERPARAM value.

Please note: this function is for tracking purposes only. If you are using this to keep track of which commissions needs to be paid to multiple of your own partners or agents, it’s important to understand that Viator will only pay commission to you as a Partner and not to any sub-partners.
The commission remittance report sent to the Partner will display the Sub-Partner (SUBPUID) and PARTNERPARAM data.

Please note that the online reports that are generated through your partner administration site may not match your commission remittance statement. This is because the report includes bookings that may have been canceled or amended by your customer.
